OTTOMAN ELITE WORKS AUCTION

Auction Catalog bids will close at 20:30 on Sunday, November 26th, and will then switch to the live auction format at 20:32. The live bid duration is 15 seconds, and each time a new bid arrives, the duration will be extended by 10 seconds.

The commission rate in our auction is 10% and the VAT rate is 20%. Payments are received within 7 (seven) business days after the end of the auction. You can examine the works on sale at the Ünal Auction House until Saturday, November 25, 18:30. Buyers who participate in our auction will be evaluated as having seen and examined the product on site.

There is no "SALE CANCELLATION, RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL or WAIVER OF PURCHASE" after the auction. Otherwise, 30% intermediary service is applied as a penalty.

Nalıncı Hacı Cemâl Efendi’nin oğlu olarak H. 20 Şa'bân 1315/m. 14 Ocak 1898’de İstanbul’da doğdu. Asıl ismi Mustafa Abdülhalim’dir. Esekapısı İbtidâî Mektebi’nde ve daha sonra Haseki’deki Gülşen-i Ma’arif Rüşdî Mektebi’nde okudu. Mektebin yazı hocası olan Hâmid Aytaç’tan sülüs ve nesih, Ferîd Bey’den de dîvânî ve rık’a dersleri aldı. Mezun olduktan sonra Sanayi-i Nefîse Mektebi’nin hâk ve resim şubesine girdi. Ertesi sene, yeni açımış ollan Medresetü’l-hattatîn’e kaydoldu. Burada Hasan Rızâ Efendi ve Kâmil Akdik’ten yeniden sülüs ve nesih, Tuğrakeş İsmâ’il Hakkî Altunbezer’den celî sülüs ve Hulûsî Yazgan’dan da ta’lik meşketti. Medresetü’l-hattatîn’den H. 20 Zi’l-hicce 1336/M. 27 Eylül 1918’de şahâdetnâme aldıktan sonra Dîvân-ı Hümâyûn Kalemi’ne girdi.

HULUSİ YAZGAN MINIATURE

“Mehmed Hulusi Yazgan”, “Hulusi Efendi from Istanbul” (b. 1868, Istanbul – d. 1940, Istanbul), Turkish calligrapher. He is the most important calligrapher of the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the early periods of Turkey. The artist, who is especially a master of ta'liq script, has plaques in the Sultanahmet Mosque, Sultan Selim Tomb, Bayezid Mosque and Merkez Efendi Mosques. Mehmet Hulusi also wrote the sign "Sovereignty Belongs to the Nation" in the Old Grand National Assembly of Turkey building in Ankara.

Battle of Djerba: It was a naval battle fought between the Ottoman Navy under the command of Admiral Piyale Pasha and a Crusader Navy led by Spanish forces, off the coast of Tunisia's Djerba Island in May 1560. In this war, where the Ottomans won a great victory, half of the Crusader ships were sunk.
