“Mehmed Hulusi Yazgan”, “Hulusi Efendi from Istanbul” (b. 1868, Istanbul – d. 1940, Istanbul), Turkish calligrapher. He is the most important calligrapher of the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the early periods of Turkey. The artist, who is especially a master of ta'liq script, has plaques in the Sultanahmet Mosque, Sultan Selim Tomb, Bayezid Mosque and Merkez Efendi Mosques. Mehmet Hulusi also wrote the sign "Sovereignty Belongs to the Nation" in the Old Grand National Assembly of Turkey building in Ankara.
